1. Measure Twice, Cut Once.
2. Label your cables! It will help you in the future.
3. Don't buy the cheapest Cables. Cheap cables lose their value much quicker.
4. Don't forget to test. Making sure the connect works is key to success!
5. Keep Patch cables short. Longer Patch cables are messy and actually inefficient.
6. Color Code. Each color should have a purpose, meaning or grouping. This helps organizing a bunch of cables.
7. Buy Conduit Sized for what you will need in the future, not just right now.
8. Make your data center design cable-friendly for easy access.
9. Separate Cat5 cables and power lines. They can cause interference with your Cat5.
10. Keep Cables cool. Hot cables can lead to a future disaster.
