Cables.com offers a selection of cables for every size port imaginable, including micro and mini connectors for standard HDMI and USB cables. Find the right cable for converting or connecting your devices.

It seems like as time passes, many of our devices are getting smaller and smaller. There's also a greater variety of connecting cables and plugs, whether they're being used simply for charging your device or for more complex functions like transmitting valuable data. Let's take a look at some of the "micro" and "mini" cables and connectors available for purchase on Cables.com

Micro USB

In our last post on USB cables, we went into some detail about the different types of USB cables commonly used by devices today. To sum things up, USB 2.0 and 3.0 are the second and third major versions of the USB standard. USB 2.0 offers a maximum speed of 480 MBPS, while USB 3.0 cables are about 10x faster, with a maximum speed of an impressive 5 GBPS. Even among USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 cables, however, there are differences of function, compatibility and connector types; this means that it’s essential to order the correct USB cables for your needs.

Many modern devices include charging cables that feature a USB connector on one end, meant to link a smaller, more portable device like a cell phone or camera to something larger, like a PC. A lot of power strips are currently being manufactured with USB ports built in for charging purposes, as well. Consider our 3m USB 3.0 A Male to Micro B Male Cable, which is intended primarily to act as a "plug and play" connector for hard drive enclosures.

We also offer a USB 2.0 A Male to Micro-B 5 pin male cable, which can be used to charge and sync data to numerous types of cell phones, including many Android phones.

Micro HDMI Cables

What are HDMI cables? HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface, and it refers to a proprietary audio/video interface for transmitting compressed or uncompressed digital video and/or audio data from an HDMI-compliant source device like, say, a camera to a compatible display device like a computer or HDTV screen.

Cables.com's Micro HDMI Type D to Full Size cable still contains the full 19 pin array like other full size HDMI connectors yet packs it into a much smaller form factor. Although smaller in stature, it still supports 4K, 1080p, HDTV.The HDMI 1.4 specification introduces a new “Micro” connector which is approximately 50% smaller than the previous “Mini” connector and roughly the size of a Micro USB connector.
