Do you know why plenum cables are so important for commercial use? Plenum cables are designed specifically for use in plenum spaces, which are those spaces between the structural ceiling and the suspended ceiling or beneath elevated floorings that are used for cable storage during installations. Since the areas are not easily accessible during fire hazards it's important that any cables used in these areas be made from materials that won't produce toxic fumes or flames if they were to become damaged. Plenum cables also have a higher fire rating than standard cables.

Plenum cables were invented in the early 1990s in response to a series of deadly cable fires. The National Electrical Code (NEC) now requires that any cables used in plenum spaces must be certified as "plenum" cables. A plenum-rated cable will have the letters "PLENUM" printed on the jacket. It is now required in most jurisdictions that any commercial or institutional building have a plenum space to store cables and that plenum cables be used.

Built-to-order plenum cables are ideal for commercial or institutional projects where specific lengths, colors, and configurations are required. Cables.com offers a wide range of plenum cables for all your needs, including Cat-rated (i.e., Cat-5e, Cat-6), shielded, unshielded cables and more.

We are your one-stop-shop for all of your plenum cable needs. We offer a wide range of plenum cables, including Category rated plenum cables, coaxial plenum cables, and USB plenum cables. We also carry a variety of adapters and connectors to make sure you have everything you need to get the job done. We also make custom plenum cables for any specific installation requirements or project large or small. Please note that all custom, built-to-order plenum cables cannot be returned.

All of our plenum cables are made from special materials that don't produce toxic smoke or fumes while burning. This makes them ideal for use in commercial spaces where regular access to cable is difficult, such as hospitals and high-rise buildings. Our Cat rated plenum Ethernet cables have been tested by third parties to ensure they meet strict fire safety standards for use in plenum spaces.

Our Cat rated plenum Ethernet cables are available in a wide range of colors and lengths, including our popular white, blue and gray colored cables, and red, purple and other colors when you need to distinguish between network runs. We also offer both shielded and unshielded versions depending on your installation needs or project requirements.

Should you need a custom plenum cable created, visit our custom cable builder. We can make almost any plenum Ethernet, coaxial or USB cables you require, regardless of your project size.
